Pilgrimages helps us to follow in the footsteps of Fr George Preca by visiting the major sites where his life journey took place.
It gives us an opportunity to relive the experience of the Founder of the Society of Christian Doctrine, MUSEUM, thus helping us to foster our spiritual growth.
This pilgrimage will help us appreciate this spirituality, throw light on Fr Preca’s spiritual experiences, and thus encourage us to imitate him in his great love of God and neighbour. Some episodes connected with these sites can help to instill in us the Founder’s spirit more than others.
Along this pilgrimage we do not follow a chronological order in visiting the sites. Their geographical proximity takes priority. The pilgrimage starts with Fr Preca’s birth place in West Street, Valletta, and from here we move to the other shrines in the vicinity.
For the convenience of pilgrims, we divided this pilgrimage into four areas: Valletta and Floriana, Hamrun and Santa Venera, the third one takes us to the Marsa Cross and from there to Paola, Cospicua, Zebbug and Mdina. The last part helps us meditate Fr Preca’s death and his legacy.
May this pilgrimage serve to fill our hearts with the burning love of Jesus Christ who for Saint George Preca was “the sole object of his mind and heart”.
