The first superior general of the male SDC section Eugene Borg and his counterpart Giannina Cutajar, superior general of the female SDC section were the two most influential Members in the early days of the Society. From an early age both lived a holy life under the inspiration and the direct guidance of Fr. Preca.

Joe Abela was the first leader who pioneered ministry in Australia. He was a man of great intellect with a vision well ahead of his time.

Maurice Mifsud was one of the original six members chosen by St George Preca, to officially establish the SDC in Australia, arriving with other Members at the iconic Station Pier in Melbourne on the MV Surriento on 18 April 1956. He later was chosen as the second leader in Australia. He is missionary zeal and dedication still inspire Australian Members.

Charles Azzpoardi was sent by Fr.Preca to Australia in 1956 and stayed for ten year. He then travelled to Peru with the intention to establish the SDC. After 36 years of tireless work three members from Malta made his wish come true.
